In ancient Egypt, leadership was not granted by birthright alone. Every Pharaoh, king, or queen was measured against Ma’at: the principle of truth, balance, justice, and harmony. Only those whose hearts aligned with these cosmic laws were seen as fit to govern.
This initiatory path was not about power for its own sake. It was about responsibility: to restore balance between masculine and feminine, self and society, earth and cosmos. When rulers ignored Ma’at, leadership collapsed into ego and tyranny. When they lived by her, civilization thrived.
At Symbiosis Egypt, we bring this wisdom forward into our time. Over 5 days, we walk the path of Ma’at together, not as myth or metaphor, but as a living framework for conscious leadership today. Step by step, you are invited to weigh your own heart, align with truth, and embody balance so that your leadership arises not from ego, but from integrity, coherence, and love.

Your private Symbiosis sanctuary in Egypt
Our home for the week is Ardi Dahshur, a locally rooted retreat center about an hour from the Giza Plateau. Surrounded by palm groves and built with natural earth-based materials,
Ardi offers the quiet of the desert edge while keeping us close to Egypt’s most sacred sites. The entire space will be private for our group, creating a safe and intimate container for the journey.
Ardi is not ultra-luxury, but it is deeply intentional. Expect cozy rooms, surrounded by palmtrees, yoga-dome, amazing swimming pool, and three freshly prepared local meals each day. All curated by a local family with farm-to-table food.
For over a decade, it has hosted retreats dedicated to yoga, meditation, art, and consciousness expansion. Its name, Ardi, means ‘Earth’ in Arabic, a reminder of our grounding and connection. It is a place of authenticity. Beautiful, grounded, and perfectly aligned with the spirit of Symbiosis.

Mark van der Heijden is the founder of Conscious 500, a global network of leaders on a mission to elevate business for good. Through podcasts with visionaries like Zach Bush, events at venues such as Soho House, and collaborations with thought leaders including Robert Edward Grant at the Embassy of the Free Mind, Mark curates spaces and connections where conscious leadership meets real-world impact.
Previously known as The Backpacker Intern, Mark worked with agencies, brands, and organizations in 27 countries across 7 continents, a journey that shaped his global perspective on creativity, collaboration, and leadership.
